Show Car Name

In late 1999, we locked the Coustic automotive gurus in the Coustic sound labs with simple instructions: build the loudest, most state of the art sound demo vehicle in the world. It had to be fast, it had to look hot, and the system had to be sick. Mission accomplished. The Coustic Honda Civic EX is built for big speed and even bigger sound with a custom Coustic audio system that rocks like the Bay Bridge in a twister and transitions from clean sound quality to booming bass as effortlessly as the Lakers run a fast break. Wanna see it?

Honda Style

A Xenon body kit and lowered suspension enable the Civic to creep across the pavement with the stealth of a panther. Twin racing stripes, like war paint, extend from the hood to the doors of the Civic contrasting the black body, and accenting bright Coustic Yellow logos, emblazoned on the hood, on either side, and at the rear of the car in the form of a custom Coustic license plate.

Custom-colored, 18-inch Konig Caffeine wheels add continuity to the trademark color scheme while hot BF Goodrich Scorcher TA tires with yellow stripes in the tread burn up the blacktop. Inside the Coustic Civic, yellow and aluminum sports pedals, and polished aluminum shift knob and emergency brake are among the exciting, upgraded interior parts that blend with the progressive Coustic look.

The Boom:

The Coustic installation team removed the backseat to make way for a custom-built, color-matched Coustic-Yellow fiberglass subwoofer enclosure which houses four blistering 15", 300-watt Coustic RS series subwoofers. With the Coustic R S remote subwoofer gain control, located in the center console, you can manually control the level of the output of the subwoofers.

The Source:

The slammin' Coustic audio system gets its orders from a power-packed, Coustic CD527 four-channel head-unit embedded in a custom, color-matched Coustic-Yellow trim ring installed in the factory stereo location. The CD527 incorporates 5-volt front and rear pre-amp outputs, ensuring a clean, strong sound. The head-unit also features its own, built-in high-power amplifier (four channels x 40 watts).

Sweet Speaks:

The Coustic installation team decided on custom color-matched fiberglass kick-panels to house the tweeters and midbass drivers up-front. First, they created a wood baffle and mounted a midbass driver to it. They attached a laser pointer to the baffle and aimed it, from each side of the car, at ear height, to ensure optimal musical reproduction. Next, they created the custom kick-panels angled to match the angles of the speaker baffle. The team constructed hollow steel tubes, one end of which is mounted to the baffle of the kick panels, while the other end is attached to the tweeter. The tweeter was then placed over the midbass driver to create a coaxial configuration. After the speakers were mounted, the new, custom kick panels were placed in the factory kick panel locations.

The Muscle:

In the trunk, a Coustic Yellow, one-piece fiberglass tub, trimmed with slick, black Mercedes vinyl, sports five Coustic 600SE amplifiers. Each of four amplifiers drives a 15" subwoofer with the fifth amplifier driving the 6 1/2" component sets. These unique, two-channel amplifiers include adjustable bass boosts so bass junkies can bump the bass volume level from 0 to 18 dB at 45 Hz, more than enough to satisfy a jones to rattle their bones. They also include variable high-pass and low-pass crossovers that offer installation flexibility
